8. Super 20 Innings Finish Time or Compulsory Closure Time Reg 25.1

EXISTING REGULATIONS

Super 20 Reg 25

WHAT'S THIS ABOUT?

Super 20 Reg 25 - the compulsory closure is called "Innings finish time".

But in Sun50 and Sat35 it's called "Compulsory Closure Time".

COMMENT

This seems to be a correction to a piece of sloppy nomenclature. To avoid confusion Super 20 Reg 25 should be changed to use a uniform term..  Right?

No, no, no, no, no.....

The reason it's not a uniform term is to distinguish the difference between overtime penalties.

In Sat 35 and Sun 50 the penalty for your team failing to bowl overs in the correct time is merely cut it off at the 'compulsory closure time' and you get the same overs as you bowled.

In Super 20 there is a run penalty for failure to bowl overs in the allocated time. See Regulation 25.5 for the gory details. (6 runs per uncompleted over plus you have to bowl 'em... ding on!)

Importantly this applies to BOTH the first fielding team and the second fielding team in equal fashion.
